Jap vi kar lai tap vi kar lai sunn samadh lagai ja; Lakhan ved granthan taeen parh parh ratte layee ja. Yog nyoli kirya kr lai karam dharam bahutera vi; Chhad ke bhaven duniyan taeen la lai jangli dera vi. Aasan puthhe sidhhe la ke kar lai chahe hazaar yatan; Lakh bana ke thakardware daan kari ja lal ratan. Kar kar tote apne tan de bhaven yag karanda ja; Vart nibha ke reh ke bhukkha sau sau dukh uthanda ja. Rab noon fir vi pahunch na sakken sabh kuch hi bekar samajh; Guru de mukh ton sun ke rab noon kahe avtar ik vaar samajh. |

O’man, you may keep the chanting the Name, doing penance and sitting in trance; You may keep on reciting and cramming the Vedas and other religious books a million times. You may perform yogic exercise and any number of rituals and righteous acts; You may even renounce the world and start living in the forests. You may keep on making various yogic postures and making thousand of efforts; You may construct numerous temples and donate gems and jewels in charity. You may chop your body into pieces and perform any number of sacrifices[yajnas]; You may keep fasts, remain hungary and torment your body in hundred of ways. None of these acts can help you to reach God, consider these all as futile; Avtar says, listen to the Name of God from the True Master and understand it once for all. |

You may keep on chanting the name, doing penance and sitting in trance. You may keep on studying and educating others on lakhs of Vedas and religious books. You may perform yogic exercises and any number of rituals. You may even renounce the world and start living in the forests. You may keep on making various yogic postures and put in thousands of efforts. You may built innumerable temples and donate gems and jewels in charity. You may cut your body in pieces and perform number of sacrifices. You may keep fasts, and torture your body in a number of ways. None of these acts will help you to reach God, and thus consider all these acts as useless. Avtar says, listen to the name of God from the True Master and understand it at once.
